We took this video of Wes this week. The highlights include Neil throwing popcorn to him one kernel at a time (like circus peanuts) and him attacking them face first (we tried to give him the bowl, but it was messy, to say the least), his "cape" and especially his expression at the end of the video. This is typical Wes all the way.

Our Big Boy.
Everyone that sees Wes lately remarks, "He's not a little boy anymore!"
He is growing up fast these days. The baby fat is gone from his face. His monthly trips to the barber shop for haircuts mean that his hair is now wavy, not curly. He's tall and thin and talks in full sentences.

Sweetie Pie.

I just love this picture Wes' teacher sent in her weekly round up...
My sweet little boy, all dirt and worms and trucks, feeding his babies.
I love seeing him showing his sweet side...deep down he's a loving little boy (who just happens to like to get dirty, too).
Glad he's getting some practice!

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day(s)
We've had a rough week at the Magnuson house.
We enjoyed a fun dinner last Sunday night with the Mihalovich family, in town from Kansas City.
Monday night I woke up at midnight and got sick...and proceeded to get up and get sick every hour during the entire night. Neil came home from work early Tuesday feeling rotten. Our savior, Day (my dad), came to help with Wes (I couldn't raise my head off the pillow without getting sick). He returned from the playground Tuesday afternoon with bad news: Wes had throw up everywhere.
We got better one by one; it took Wes the longest to recover. As of 8:30 pm tonight, he hadn't throw up all day, the first time in a week that he made it through the day without vomiting at least once. We took him to the doctor yesterday, who took a good look and told us that the bug was just taking a while to get out of his system, which at least made us feel better.
And everyone at that fun dinner on Sunday night? Every single one got sick. This is one nasty bug and I hope it's gone for good!
I have lots of blogging to catch up on; Wes is making us laugh every day, even when he's feeling awful.
More to come soon, promise!

Catching up...
Wes' blog has really been neglected lately! Big things are happening in our world:
During the holidays we decided to rent a bigger house while we're saving up to buy a place. We checked out a new place on Christmas eve, and by the Monday after Christmas we had been approved with a move-in date of Jan 16th. So we've been busy. Packing, moving, setting up everything. We moved Saturday and we are absolutely loving the place so far. We have four bedrooms, a playroom, screened in porch, and a Den and living room. Wes can run circles around the house (and he has been!). Also of note - Neil started his new job today. Hooray! He is in Richmond at orientation until Thursday.
I still need to catch up on Christmas posts, but until then, here's a picture of Wes this morning. I was taking pictures of the place to send to Neil's parents, and he wanted to get in one. Notice the Crocs and fireman hat - his favorite attire...so glad he's getting opinions about what he wants to wear! :)

December!
We're only halfway into December and it has been a blast already. We have Christmas at home and visits to both Salisbury and Nashville to look forward to in the next few weeks. I'll be home from work for almost two weeks!
We went and listened to the Clefhangers sing at the Old Well on the last day of classes (and played in the dirt)
We tried and tried to get Wes to sit still long enough to take a picture for the Christmas card (yes, I'm way behind).
Obviously, I failed, and went with an action shot:
We went to a Moravian Lovefeast last Sunday at Wes' preschool's church, which was interesting (try disciplining a two year old with a burning candle in your hand!), but he sure looked handsome.
Today was the Christmas Party at Wes' preschool. The kids sang us Jingle Bells (Wes didn't sing, although he's been practicing constantly) and then made Reindeer Dust to sprinkle on our doorstep on Christmas Eve. The children loved putting oats in the bowl and then sprinkling them with LOTS of glitter.
Tonight our good friends Sarah Jane and Hayes came to eat dinner. They moved to Arkansas this summer so it was such a treat to have them here! The boys played and had so much fun together, and SJ and I had a blast catching up. We miss them so much!
Here are the boys eating dinner:
(love the hat, Wes!)
These boys have grown up together. Here's a picture of one of their first play dates:
It's hard to believe they were that small!
Here's to December! We can't wait for the rest of it.

Football Saturday in Chapel Hill
A few weeks ago we finally made it up to campus before a UNC football game. For one reason or another (naps, illness, out-of-town trips) we hadn't been to Tar Heel town before a game this year.
Wes' first trip to UNC for Tar Heel town was when he was only a few weeks old. He was a tiny little thing and got lots of attention for being the smallest fan there.
Last year we went and he had fun watching the team at the Old Well Walk (he couldn't even walk then!):
This year he had a ball. There were all kinds of things to look at. Wes LOVED watching the band perform in the Pit. We ate in Lenior (Chick-Fil-A, of course!) then went to play on campus.
So many leaves to play in on campus!
He wanted to get his picture made with the big shirt, but changed his mind at the last minute! (He is really hightailing it out of there)
We found some big sticks to play with:
After playing in the leaves, we watched the team walk through campus for the Old Well walk. Again, Wes was mesmerized with the cheerleaders, Rameses, band, and of course, the BIG men walking by. He held his hand out (with a little help) to get some high fives and he got lots of smiles. The highlight was when Butch Davis saw Wes, smiled and ruffled his hair. I think Wes was his good luck charm (we beat Miami)!! Maybe ol' Butch should have had Wes come to Raleigh for the State game.
After all this fun, the boy was wiped. I snapped this picture of him walking with Daddy, on the way to drop Day and Daddy off at the Stadium and go home for a nap:
That's a picture of two happy boys right there.
